Firasat has over 12 years of experience in Education, Software Development, IT Administration, eLearning Development, Information Security and Computer Forensics, Curriculum Development and Acedemic Administration.

Professional roles (past and present) include Programmer, Database and Network Administrator, IT and MIS Faculty Member, Director of eLearning at MCTC, Director of the Institute for Computer Security and Forensics at MCTC, Chief Information Officer at MCTC, and Senior Security Project Manager leading information security assessments and training at MnSCU institutions. He has also developed eLearning for Xcel Energy, Minnesota Online, Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, and Hennepin County.

Firasat's educational background includes a B.S. in Civil Engineering, numerous technology certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Novell and CompTIA, and a Masters in MIS. He is presently pursuing a doctorate in computer science.
